Once abandoned, now cherished. An irresponsible owner dropped Cede off at a park, in a box with an older dog that had distemper don’t ask me how Cede never got distemper I guess its pure luck. She was about 4 weeks old at the time.
An animal hospital employee became the foster of this abandoned pup. Her husband works at Mercedes so their children decided to call her Cede as an abbreviation for merCEDEs, cute huh. Guess who else worked at Mercedes.
He brought her to work one day, I fell in love. I brought her home for the weekend and my dad said No Way!! about 8 hours later I walked into the family room to find him talking baby talk to Cede on the couch while she laid in his lap, total sucker!
Moving has always been hard with her. I went to a San Francisco college and required a place with a back yard that I could afford AND that allowed dogs, AND allowed pit bulls! It was always harder to find that place, but I did each year. I took her to the dog park off leash every day and was welcomed with open arms once they saw she was playing nicely with the other dogs.
She has taught me that I am responsible for the way she behaves. I socialized her off leash, I stuck my hand in her bowl and pet her while she ate, and introduced her to children and small animals from the beginning. She plays with animals, big and small, and people, big and little. She even participated in raising my roommate's Yorkshire terrier puppies and let them crawl into her food dish and steal her toys from her!
This is not a vicious breed unless taught so, or neglected and unsocialized, like any other breed. This is a smart breed that loves unconditionally and seeks excitement. She learns tricks in one or two tries, She runs into the ocean watching over kids to make sure they are ok.
Banning is simply ignorant. It's the people It's the people It's the stupid people, ban them! Please support pits openly and squash media frenzied ignorance.
